What over-the-counter treatment options are available for osteoarthritis?
NSAIDs NSAIDs are other OTC products used to treat mild to moderate pain associated with OA. Unlike APAP, NSAIDs reduce swelling and inflammation that often accompany arthritis pain. There are numerous NSAIDs that are available over the counter. Some of these include ibuprofen, naproxen, and aspirin. Because there are many different NSAIDs, check with your pharmacist for the appropriate doses. Gastrointestinal (GI) irritation and heartburn are common side effects of NSAIDs.
