All American Hamburger
Ah, that good ol' grilling standby, the hamburger. Flavorful meat is the first step to a great hamburger. Choose Hen House ground chuck 80% lean. Handle ground beef gently. Over mixing when blending other ingredients into the meat gives you tough burgers and less flavor. Don't press down on patties or pierce them during cooking. Brush the buns with a little melted butter and grill for about a minute until golden. Cover the grill while the burgers are cooking so the meat retains the smoky flavor from the charcoal. It wouldn't hurt to throw some soaked fruit wood chips on the fire either. I also like melting some of Jason Wiebe's Good Natured Cheddar with some Boulevard Beer and making a cheese sauce to top the hamburger.

1/2 cup finely chopped onion
2 tablespoons BBQ Sauce
1 teasp. Worcestershire sauce
1-1/2 teasp. garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
24 oz. Hen House 80% Lean Ground Chuck

In a medium bowl, combine onion, BBQ Sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and pepper. Add ground chuck; mix well. Shape mixture into four 1/2-inch or 3/4-inch-thick patties. Grill burgers on the rack of an uncovered grill directly over medium coals for 10 to 13 minutes until meat is done (160 degree F), turning once halfway through grilling. Serve patties on buns. If you like, top burgers with Good Natured Farms Cheddar cheese, local homegrown tomatoes and onions, and Kansas Depot pickles.
